Syrinx Music’s sixth digital release comes in the form of a new EP from Lyon-based producer LeTo. Fresh off the release of two EPs on two of the main imprints of the French bass music scene, Resources & Noizion, LeTo offers an alternative insight on his club-ready productions with Years Meandering. LeTo’s sound is rooted in UK electronic music and bass music in general, displaying a deep understanding of its various styles, as the EP delves into breakbeat, grime, d&b, and more recent club music evolutions.

It would be unfair, however, to understate LeTo’s inventiveness: Years Meandering goes beyond exercises in style, with LeTo showcasing his own take on these sounds. Twisted rhythms, noisy sonics, sharp textures & a permanent sense of narration and melody feature through all the tracks, from “Hask”’s intricate beat patterns to “Meander”’s slower melodic explorations, onwards to “Unbuild”’s gritty soundsystem vibes, “Sur-Hype”’s grimey pulse & “Flat FM”’s plastic sounds. LeTo unites these various ideas with a common melodic & psychedelic thread, as well as a taste for adventurous sound-design: though it always remains close to the dancefloor, Years Meandering thus fits Syrinx Music’s ethos, at the croassroads between the club & the lab.
