Syrinx Music starts its loaded 2023 programme with the first EP from Paris-area duo Feather Model. Grid Scanning lets us explore the particular universe of this new act gathering Peine Rose, a member of the Syrinx collective since its beginnings, and Erwan Lemoine. Their sound is at the same time synthetic and organic, exploring new sound territories while being anchored in clear roots, in four tracks melting both artists’ inputs. Coming from DJing and electronic music production, Erwan Lemoine seeks his influences in hip hop, future bass or house music, where Peine Rose evolves in the fields of generative composition, as well as A/V projects or jazz music. Beyond these individual sensibilities, both artists share a common taste for experimentation, jazz and noise music, that one may perceive in each of these four tracks.

These various sources are combined in the EP’s four parts, which illustrate the sound of the duo with a live approach. Recomposed hip hop rhythms, retrofuturistic synths & jazzy basslines draw melancholic and nocturnal atmospheres, in an expressive whole that demonstrate Feather Model’s cohesiveness and displays their unique palette. Grid Scanning is an oneiric and captivating EP, in line with Syrinx Music’s aesthetics, as always located at the crossroads between the lab and the club.

Syrinx Music débute son année 2023, qui s’annonce chargée, par le premier EP du duo francilien Feather Model. Grid Scanning nous laisse visiter l’univers singulier de ce nouveau projet réunissant Peine Rose, membre du collectif Syrinx depuis ses débuts, et Erwan Lemoine. Un univers qui marie le synthétique et l’organique, l’exploration de territoires sonores aventureux comme l’ancrage dans des racines claires, au cours de quatre titres qui conjuguent les apports des deux artistes. Tourné vers le DJing et la production électronique, Erwan Lemoine trouve notamment ses influences dans le hip hop, la future bass ou la house, quand Peine Rose évolue du côté de la composition générative, mais aussi dans des projets audiovisuels, ou jazz. Au-delà de ces sensibilités individuelles, les deux artistes partagent un même goût pour l’expérimentation, le jazz ou la noise, que l’on perçoit au sein de ces quatre morceaux.

Ce sont bien ces différentes sources que l’on retrouve mêlées au sein de chacun de ces quatre titres, qui illustrent ce son du duo dans une approche très live. Rythmiques hip hop recomposées, synthétiseurs rétrofuturistes, lignes de basse jazzy dessinent des atmosphères mélancoliques et nocturnes, dans un ensemble très expressif qui démontre toute la cohérence du son de Feather Model. Un EP onirique et captivant, inscrit dans la ligne de l’esthétique Syrinx Music, toujours située au carrefour du laboratoire et du club.
